When I was younger I used to wish I were smarter.
         Now that I'm older I wish I didn't know so much.

When I was younger I wanted any job.
         Now that I'm older I don't really want any job.

When I was younger I wished I had a partner.
         Now that I'm older I've discovered having a partner is twice the hassle.

When I was younger I wanted money.
         Now that I'm older I wish money did not exist.

When I was younger I wanted to escape from my family.
         Now that I'm older I wish I were still back with my family.

When I was younger I wanted to drive away.
         Now that I'm older I can't wait to drive home.

When I was younger I desperately wanted kids.
         Now that I'm older I desperately want to be a kid again.

The Cycle

Here I am again, aching. My heart pounds to my ribs, my lungs squeezing, my chest tightening, hoarding my tears. When I couldn't take it anymore, I'll run back to your safety (cause I don't feel safe with me); a safe haven that I know wouldn't last - a comfort and joy that's temporary. When everything starts crashing, I'll run back to myself again - trying to recover, thinking that I'm healing - then the aching begins again. It's a cycle; it keeps on repeating.
