Individuality.

These days most people are other people.
Only a few templates are distributed amongst the billions.
Maybe it’s because they see themselves as less than equals.
So they base and paste their thoughts from someone else’s opinions.

Their unfulfilled lives a mimicry.
Obtaining incompatible abilities.
Altering their figures physically.

Their passions are quotations.
Their theories are past equations.
They become victims of affiliations.

Remoulding their models into the shape of their role models.
Worshipping the words of Drake, Einstein, Rhianna and Aristotle.
Pursuing the idolised physique of a manufactured Coca Cola bottle.

They squeeze themselves into already overcrowded groups.
But you can only have so many cards in one particular suit.
To every leader there will always be surplus of recruits.

This process progresses day by day.

To the point where he and she have become they

“Mummy, when I grow up I want to be just like them”

Is what they all will say.

Something I wrote today and I kind of rushed it but only because I know I will not get anytime to finish it this week lol This was inspired by twitter and the many generic profiles I see including my own I actually sort of remixed it from an Oscar Wilde quote I read and it got me thinking as usual lol I just wanted to explore the subject and put my spin on it I hope it works and makes sense lol :and I hope you guys like it :)

Beautiful, and very poignant. Putting Rhianna and Drake along with Einstein and Aristotle was an interesting choice.

that is beautiful, and I find myself actually looking at the world differently because of this.
I always did see the world as one big blurr of similarities and I agree with you here,
"Only a few templates are distributed amongst the billions."
If only people saw that they didn't have to be like everyone else to be special.

beautiful. I think I've read that Wilde quote cause this sounded familiar. :) Well done really my friend. I have had troubles finding friends in the past mostly cause I don't fit in a mold like most people do. I needed a unique group of people that would enjoy and accept my inability to fit in a category. :) I found them but it took some time. Even though it was tough, I'm happy I'm truly myself and not some copy of another person. :)

This is so stinking right! :highfive: And those templates are the sheep minded "commoners". I think there's a guy on Youtube known as Buckley who masterfully defines them.

I see. I`ve read that quote somewhere on here before. This does make a lot of sense because, most people only say/think/like/dislike what everybody else is saying. Also, Einstein and Aristotle have actually said wise things. The other two names mentioned are just celebrities.

Hi, Sean here from #We-Poets stopping by because you requested a critique for this one.

Individuality. (title already set in Deviant Art field, so you can delete from poem copy itself)

Love the first couple of verses, but here on the third I might revise to:

Their passions are quotations.
Their theories past equations.
Become victims of affiliations.

coca cola
(Change to "Coca-Cola")

The 5th verse seems a little too long, I'd edit to:

They squeeze themselves into overcrowded groups.
Only so many cards in one particular suit.
To every leader there's always a surplus of recruits.

To the point where he and she have become they
(Change to: "To the point where he and she become a they")

_____

Hope all or at least some of this helps. Totally agree that we need more individuality! Well said! :) --Sean

makes perfect sense. i applaud you for your thought. thank you for the intelligent and delightful, inspiring read.

if more people thought like this... well, i guess we'd be back to square one, huh? ;P but if people realized that they're not people any more, but mere clones and tattered tracing paper, people would be more inclined to think for themselves. if only...

nonetheless, you give me hope that not everyone is insipid as i tend to think they are. :)

Pieces like this just remind me how happy I am to have my individuality, and how blessed I am to have to strength to form my own opinions, thoughts, and tastes.
Enjoyable read. :)
